Video Premiere: Drake - Hotline Bling

Canadian rapper Drake returns with an infectious new single "Hotline Bling" and an accompanying music video that has set the internet on fire following its release in the last quarter of 2015. The song was written by Aubrey Graham (Drake's birth name) together with Paul Jefferies and Timmy Thomas. The lyrical simplicity and raw emotion create an unforgettable experience for the listeners who might not be able to get the catchy chorus unstuck out of their heads for days or even months. Drizzy pours his heart out as he sings about his old flame from his hometown Toronto, alleged to be his ex-girlfriend Nebby, with whom he's had an on-and-off longterm relationship. The nineteen85-produced track heavily samples R&B singer Timmy Thomas' 1972 song "Why Can't We Live Together".

The Director X-directed music video is on another level with its vibrant pastel colors and out-of-this-world setting.

Other than its opening scene, involving a hotline operated by sexy ladies and starring Dominican model Damaris Lopez, the visual is very minimalistic in its nature and is said to be inspired by the work of American artist James Turrell whose art is primarily concerned with light and space. As such the rest of the clip appears to take us on an intimate trip inside Drake's heart that looks like a cold and abandoned place with a staircase leading to his passionate self emphasized by red light. However, rest assured that Drake is not alone as he can be seen dancing with his thoughts embodied by curvaceous hotties in yoga pants.

Drake's prolific dancing went viral as it quickly became a source of various memes which has contributed to the single's popularity and its overall chart performance. The music video inspired numerous parodies including an Saturday Night Live skit performed by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Lyrics to Hotline Bling by Drake

[Intro]
You used to call me on my
You used to, you used to
Yeah

[Hook]
You used to call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
Call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
And I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing
I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing

[Verse 1]
Ever since I left the city you
Got a reputation for yourself now
Everybody knows and I feel left out
Girl you got me down, you got me stressed out
Cause ever since I left the city, you
Started wearing less and goin' out more
Glasses of champagne out on the dance floor
Hangin' with some girls I've never seen before

[Hook]
You used to call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
Call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing
I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing

[Verse 2]
Ever since I left the city, you, you, you
You and me, we just don't get along
You make me feel like I did you wrong
Going places where you don't belong
Ever since I left the city, you
You got exactly what you asked for
Running out of pages in your passport
Hanging with some girls I've never seen before

[Hook]
You used to call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
Call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
And I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing
I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing

[Bridge]
These days, all I do is
Wonder if you're bendin' over backwards for someone else
Wonder if you're rolling up a Backwoods for someone else
Doing things I taught you, gettin' nasty for someone else
You don't need no one else
You don't need nobody else, no
Why you never alone
Why you always touching road
Used to always stay at home, be a good girl
You was in the zone, yeah
You should just be yourself
Right now, you're someone else

[Hook]
You used to call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
Call me on my cell phone
Late night when you need my love
And I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing
I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing

[Outro]
Ever since I left the city...
