The song was written by Nicki Minaj (real name Onika Maraj) together with Ester Dean, Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, Donnie Lewis, Ziggy Mcstalin, Theron Thomas and Henry Walter. The party anthem was produced by Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald and Cirkut. "The Night Is Still Young" serves as the sixth single taken from the 32-year-old Trini-born rapstress's third studio album 'The Pinkprint', released on December 12, 2014 via Young Money, Cash Money and Republic Records.

Queen Nicki owns the night in the Hannah Lux Davis-directed music video as she flaunts her killer curves and shows off her hypnotizing moves alongside her Harajuku backup dancers. Minaj brings back her fierce signature look from the Pink Friday days with a bubblegum-colored wig and matching pink bodysuits but also manages to keep it all-natural and classy in a sexy black leather dress with a high ponytail. Nicki Minaj encourages young partygoers to live it up as they all gather in the streets of Japantown under an illuminated enormous-looking pinkish full moon. Nicki Minaj's boyfriend Meek Mill makes a cameo as he picks her up on his motorcycle and they ride out into the moonlight. The music video was filmed in Downtown Los Angeles, California in March 2015.
