Video Premiere: ADELE - Hello

Nearly five years after her groundbreaking second studio album, '21', Adele returns with a record-breaking hauntingly-beautiful power ballad, simply entitled "Hello". The song was written by the 27-year-old British siren (full name Adele Laurie Blue Adkins) together with her producer, Greg Kurstin. "Hello" is about Adele's relationships with her ex-lovers, loved ones but also with her former self as she tries to right her wrongs from the past. The piano track serves as the lead single from Adele's third studio album, '25', released on November 20 2015, through XL Recordings. '25' is a worthy successor to '21' and the singer herself compared '21' to '25', by calling the former a "break-up record" and '2'5 a "make-up record."

The music video was filmed on a farm in Québec by Canadian actor and director Xavier Dolan. The sepia-toned visuals perfectly reflect the song's theme of nostalgia and regret. The video stars American actor Tristan Wilds as Adele's love interest whose heart she inadvertently broke. The concept of the video revolves around a recently broken-up woman calling a younger version of herself which is emphasizing by featuring a flip phone. Portions of the video were filmed with IMAX cameras, making it the first music video in IMAX format.

The single became an instant global hit upon its release by topping music charts and breaking digital downloads and streaming records, while the music video broke the Vevo record for the most views in 24 hours with 27.7 million total, previously held by Taylor Swift's video for "Bad Blood" (20.1 million views).

Lyrics to Hello by ADELE

[Verse 1]
Hello, it's me
I was wondering if after all these years
You'd like to meet, to go over everything
They say that time's supposed to heal ya
But I ain't done much healing
Hello, can you hear me?
I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be
When we were younger and free
I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet
There's such a difference between us
And a million miles

[Chorus]
Hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I've tried
To tell you I'm sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore

[Verse 2]
Hello, how are you?
It's so typical of me to talk about myself, I'm sorry
I hope that you're well
Did you ever make it out of that town
Where nothing ever happened?
It's no secret
That the both of us are running out of time

[Chorus]
So hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I've tried
To tell you I'm sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore

[Bridge]
Ooooohh, anymore
Ooooohh, anymore
Ooooohh, anymore
Anymore

Hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I've tried
To tell you I'm sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore
